Are you seeking an internship in the behavioral healthcare field?

Horizon has internship opportunities for students enrolled in applicable 60 credit hour master's degree programs. Horizon Behavioral Health provides services to individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance use issues and/or co-occurring disorders in Lynchburg, VA and the surrounding counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell. Opportunities for related master's degree internships exist in our Admissions, Emergency Services, and Outpatient Departments. 

Internships for Summer 2024 include:

  • Emergency Services, Langhorne Wellness Center (1 opening) – May be a bachelor’s level student studying Psychology or a master’s level student in Counseling or Social Work. Will observe/participate in individual and group sessions with clients, in intake sessions, in treatment planning and in safety planning.
  • Communications & Community Engagement, Langhorne Wellness Center (1 opening) – Bachelor’s or master’s level student studying Strategic Communications, Marketing, or Digital Design. Will develop and manage social media campaigns; conduct market research; support community engagement events; manage website content updates; aid in brand management strategies.
  • Finance, Fagan Administration Building (1 opening) – Bachelor’s level student studying Accounting or Finance. Will assist with accounts payable processing, preparation of journal vouchers for monthly close, account reconciliation, agency purchase card administration, and special projects as needed.
