Internships / Practicums
Are you seeking an internship in the behavioral healthcare field?
Horizon has internship opportunities for students enrolled in applicable 60 credit hour master's degree programs. Horizon Behavioral Health provides services to individuals with mental illness, developmental disabilities, substance use issues and/or co-occurring disorders in Lynchburg, VA and the surrounding counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell. Opportunities for related master's degree internships exist in our Admissions, Emergency Services, and Outpatient Departments.
Horizon currently has internships and/ or clinical hours agreements with the following universities:
- Liberty University
- Longwood University
- Randolph College
- Radford University
- University of Lynchburg
- University of Virginia
- Simmons College
- Walden University
Internships for Spring 2025 include:
- Admissions, Langhorne Wellness Center – Must be a master’s level student in professional counseling (LPC track).
- Case Management Services, Langhorne & Landover Wellness Centers – Bachelor’s or master’s level student in Psychology and/or Social Work (Two openings)
- Communications & Community Engagement, Langhorne Wellness Center – Bachelor’s or master’s level student in Strategic Communications, Marketing, or Digital Design.
- Emergency Services, Langhorne Wellness Center – Master’s level student focusing on Licensed Professional Counselor, Social Worker, CSAC, Marriage & Family Therapy, Psychology, Counseling and/or any related field. (Two openings)
- Emergency Services, Langhorne Wellness Center / Ambulatory Crisis Stabilization – Bachelor’s or master’s level student in Psychology or Social Work, or master’s level student in Mental Health/Professional Counseling or Clinical Social Work.
- Information Technology, Fagan Administration Building – Bachelor’s level student in any MIS degree
- Outpatient Services, Langhorne Wellness Treatment Center / (OBAT) – Bachelor’s or master’s level student in Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- Prevention Services, Landover Wellness Center – Bachelor’s or master’s level student in Public Health, Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or Health Promotion.
If you meet these criteria and are interested, please submit your completed internship application no later than Monday, September 30, 2024. Please indicate which internship(s) you are interested in pursuing.
