On August 16th, 2023, Victoria “Tori” Hailey celebrated a triumphant milestone as she accepted her certificate of completion from the Bedford Family Treatment Drug Court (FTDC) program. On Graduation Day, dozens of her friends and family filled the courtroom to the brim to celebrate this inspiring accomplishment!

David Craft, a client of Horizon expresses how grateful he is for having found a hobby that he enjoys that also benefits his mental health. “I was always interested in art because my dad was an artist. I enjoyed doing model homes when I was a kid but did not become serious until later in life. Now, I am the third-generation model builder in my family. Art was instrumental in helping me build my confidence."

Graduate Regina Hall, joined by Judge F. Watson and Taylor Jones of the Lynchburg Adult Recovery Court, share powerful insights into the transformative five-phase treatment court program. Through their discussion, they highlight the program's key components and the profound impact it has on participants' lives. Regina’s story shines as an inspiring testament to resilience, determination, and the success that’s possible with the unwavering support of this collaborative initiative in Lynchburg City. Her journey serves as a beacon of hope for others seeking recovery and a fresh start.

Caring adults from Central Virginia—DJ Best, E.C. Glass High School Basketball Coach; Januwaa Davis, Horizon Prevention Manager; Teegan Deuso of CVARR; and Officer Thomas of the Bedford Police Department—come together to prove they share a powerful common goal: preventing substance use addiction and creating a brighter future for our youth. These passionate advocates share valuable insights on youth substance use, offer tips for tackling tough conversations with kids, and highlight resources and trainings to help adults recognize signs of risky behavior. With actionable strategies and their collective expertise, they embolden us all to step up and make a difference in our community.
